Ashwin’s Controversy For Mankading Buttler

IPL fever is on. We are done with the three matches so far. Chennai Super King (CSK) vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) was the first match where CSK won against RCB by seven wickets. In second match Kolkata Knight Riders won the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad by 6 wickets. Match was interesting, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) was moving towards the win but Andre Russell and Nitish Rana of (KKR) turned the game on their side and Kolkata Knight Riders won the match by 6 wickets. Third match was between Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and Rajasthan Royals (RR). In yesterday’s match (25th March 2019), Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) was the winner against Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 14 runs but the match was in controversy for the captain R Ashwin mankading Jos Buttler.

R Ashwin has been facing criticism for mankading Buttler, without giving him a warning. Let see what happens in mankading. In mankading the batsman at non striker’s end is run out when he leaves the crease before the ball is released from the bowler’s hand.

Many cricketers have shared their views for Ashwin’s this act. According to some cricketers Ashwin should have warned Buttler before mankading. While some other cricketers were supporting Ashwin as it was within the law of cricket. Jos Buttler was going strong at 69 off 43 balls and this happen. Ashwin has defended himself saying what he did was within the cricket laws. It was not planned. He said he didn’t load, he was not even at the crease and buttler left the crease. Buttler was not even looking at him.

As per one of the senior BCCI official, what Ashwin did was not wrong and is permissible within the rules of the game. As far as Shane Warne is concerned, he is brand ambassador of Rajasthan Royals (RR) and not a neutral observer.
